It is that time. We are packing up this morning and heading to Orcia. It seems crazy that we are already moving on. As I write this a crew is at the job site trying to finish up project before we have to leave town. They left to go work this morning at 6 and we are leaving here at 10:30. We will be a tried bunch after such an early morning and a long travel day but I am glad they are getting things finished up. We were able to put in a beautiful trail up to the top of a hill/mountain in the city park. The LA students laid out the path with their expert knowledge and then the army came in and helped create/ dig the path. We also laid out a campground site that the city will finish building. We built a picnic shelter (this is what the team has gone to finish this morning).
We have enjoyed this week. We have been able to work with some local high school students on the projects and the two days that it has down poured we have been able to play soccer in the rain with them. Yesterday was one of those days. After the match they gave us all bracelets that they had made.
The team is great. We all great along really well and laugh a lot. We are excited to move on to the next place and see what great adventures we will discover in Orica.
We will not have internet in Orica so blogging maybe on hold for awhile.
We will be in Honduras from May 16-30. Please follow our adventures in Orica and Siguatepeque here.

Que tal?!
Hola!
Me llamo Maggie y estoy en Honduras! It is crazy to think that we have been here for 4 days already; we have done so much but it doesn't seem like it should be Thursday already! We have been working on multiple projects at a 175-acre park in Siguadepeque: building a shelter, sanding and painting old playground equipment, mapping out campgrounds, and digging trails. The projects that we have been working on are really coming together, and we are having a great time doing them. For example, today we were putting down the foundation for the shelter, and in order to pat down the sand, we had a dance party on the base of the shelter with a group of Honduran high-school students (with Caleb as our DJ of course)! Tomorrow is our last day in Siguadepeque, and then we travel to Orica on Saturday.
I will miss this town with the beautiful mountain views, the rich relationships we have developed, and the delicious food! But, I'm sure that we will find these things and so much more in Orica.
Please be praying for us as we scramble (in Honduran time) to finish the shelter and as many of the other projects as we can tomorrow while continuing to build relationships with each other, the UW-LA team, and the Hondurans. Also, please pray for safe travels on Saturday to Orica.
Thanks for reading this post, and I can't wait to tell you all so much more when I return.
Love,
Maggie

Traveling
Hi All!
We made it to Honduras. After a delicious meal at a local food chain we hit the road for the 2 hour ride to the camp we will make our home for the next week. After some settling in at camp we headed out for another great meal at a local buffet. We are now back at camp and ready to go to sleep. It has been a long day of travel and we have a big day ahead. Tomorrow we will head to the city center to meet with the mayor and get our projects for the week. We will then tour the city park we will be working on. It has been a great start to the trip and we are all getting along wonderfully.
Tomorrow one of our fearless leaders, Curt will join us. He forgot his passport and so he will be coming in on tomorrow's flight. For awhile we were lost but thanks to the teamwork and support of the other leaders things have gone flawlessly so far.
More to come in the future
- Kelsey
